NORVILLE INSPIRES DEALERS WITH COMEBACK STORY

February 1, 2004—Emmy award–winning TV journalist
and former morning TV host Deborah Norville fell from network grace
but rebounded by finding out “who she is” and rebuilding
the confidence she needed to go on.
Doubt is scary, said Norville at the Sunday morning Inspirational
Service, and we need to learn to face and act on those doubts, and take
control of what we can while realizing we cannot totally orchestrate
our lives.
Beaten down by “media” and being accused of pushing out
the popular Jane Pauley from NBC’s “Today” show, Norville
said she used the excuse of being a new mother to leave the show. She
became homebound and thought she would never again work in broadcasting. “Life
was over,” she said.
Months later—after a good cry and look in the mirror, and with
support from her family and a strong belief system—she vowed never
again to let anyone keep her down. She reached inside to find and build
on who she really was—the sum of her experience, including triumphs
and defeats.
Norville, who has regained prominence as host of “Inside Edition” and
a new MSNBC show featuring topical interviews, reminded attendees
to find what’s right for them, be confident, and remember it’s
never too late to become the person you really want to be.
