January 31, 2004—Hungry for a little something extra from the 2004 NADA convention? Pick up a copy of Cooking Across the USA With NADA. The cookbook, edited by NADA chairman Alan Starling’s wife Tillie, vice-chairman Charley Smith’s wife Julee, and president Phil Brady’s wife Katie, includes regional recipes from nearly all of the spouses of NADA’s board of directors. The project evolved following several director meetings as the editors, who would gather over meals, talked about what they enjoyed preparing at home, says Katie Brady. Everyone loved to hear about what others prepared and to share recipes with one another, she says.

Adds Tilly Starling, “We tried to focus on regional specialties,” For example, she loves the southwestern fare that Julee Smith prepares.

Sales of the $20 book, which includes everything from appetizers to entrees to desserts, will benefit the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation. The NADCF provides scholarships, CPR training assistance for local fire and rescue services and Red Cross chapters, plus assistance to dealership employees affected by natural disasters.
